Brunch at Piccolo in Toronto (Cabbagetown)

Yum. 

Oh, I should write more than that?  Okay...

So, John and I decided to throw caution to the wind this morning and treat ourselves to a nice brunch.  We went to a place that's around the corner from us on Carlton.  It's called Piccolo and it's wonderful.

It's a lovely space, there is a nice patio out front, and the dining area inside is also very nice.  And, it is a really reasonable price for a Sunday brunch buffet.  $15 and that includes your tea or coffee.

The food was wonderful, far better than one expects from a buffet, excellent caesar salad that we put out in small batches and refreshed regularly, so it was always cool and crisp, never wilty.  In fact, I would say it is almost at part with the caesar salad I make, and that's saying a lot.  *grin*  Oh, and the bread, which is made in house, is to dye for.  Sooooooo good.

Hmmm.  Lets see what else... 

For hot food there was a mushroom risotto, the frittata, delicious roast lamb (I think, initially I thought it was beef, but then thought lamb, but not a very strong lamb), some yummy chicken thing, penne carbonara, and some spicy meatballs. Oh, there is also french toast and sausages and bacon.

Cold food included the delicious bread and the delicious caesar salad, a tomato basil and boccacini thing, Greek salad (tradition, no lettuce), broad beans, salami, prosciutto, and cheeses.

Desserts, also delightful. There were tarts with fresh fruit on them, a carrot cake, some amazing tiramisu, creme caramel (i didn't like it that much though) and fresh fruit.
